Since March, the local epidemic in Shanghai has spread in multiple locations, in parallel across multiple chains, hidden transmission, and rapid spread. The current round of the epidemic peaked in mid-April, with nearly 28,000 new local confirmed cases and asymptomatic infections in a single day. From March 1 to June 6, Shanghai added a total of 649,000 new local cases, including 58,000 confirmed cases and 591,000 asymptomatic infections. From April to May, production and life in most parts of Shanghai were affected by the epidemic. Until June 1, the city began to fully restore normal production and life order.

Whether it is on the production side or the demand side, the year-on-year growth rate of various economic data has dropped significantly compared with March. From the perspective of production, Shanghai's industrial added value in April fell by 62.6% year-on-year; the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size fell by 61.5% year-on-year; the delivery value of industrial exports fell by 57.3% year-on-year. From the perspective of demand, in April, social zero fell by 48.3% year-on-year, fixed asset investment fell by 48.4% year-on-year, and export value fell by 43.8% year-on-year. Moreover, compared with the initial stage of the epidemic in early 2020, Shanghai's economy has been affected to a higher degree in this round of the epidemic.

Starting from June 1, all districts and industries in Shanghai will promote the full resumption of work and production in an orderly manner to speed up economic recovery. With the remarkable results achieved in Shanghai's epidemic prevention and control, Shanghai will resume orderly access to residential quarters, public transportation operations, and motor vehicle traffic from June 1, and comprehensively promote the resumption of work, production, and the market.
